Air Conditioning

Apex design, supply, install and maintain air conditioning and heat pump systems for domestic properties, offices, retail premises, server rooms and commercial buildings of any size.

Our engineers hold F-Gas (Category I) certification and are manufacturer-accredited installers for Toshiba, Fujitsu and Mitsubishi Electric — three of the leading brands in the UK market. This accreditation means we can offer manufacturer-backed warranties on systems we install, and our engineers receive direct technical support and training from the manufacturers.

We carry out full system design before any installation, taking into account the thermal load of the space, building fabric, occupancy patterns and any specific requirements such as server room cooling tolerances. We supply and install split systems, multi-split systems, VRF/VRV systems and cassette units for commercial applications.

Annual maintenance contracts are available for all systems we install. Regular servicing maintains efficiency, extends system life and ensures your F-Gas obligations are met. Our engineers carry calibrated leak detection equipment and maintain full records for F-Gas regulatory compliance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is F-Gas certification?

F-Gas (fluorinated greenhouse gas) regulations require that anyone working with refrigerant gases in air conditioning systems must hold the relevant F-Gas certification. Our engineers hold Category I certification, which covers all equipment sizes. Records of all refrigerant handling are maintained in compliance with EU F-Gas Regulation 517/2014 (retained in UK law post-Brexit).

How often should air conditioning systems be serviced?

We recommend annual servicing for most systems. Systems containing 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more of refrigerant require leak checks every 12 months. Regular servicing also maintains efficiency — a poorly maintained system can use significantly more energy than a well-maintained one.

Can you install air conditioning in a listed building?

It depends on the listing and local authority. We can advise on the planning requirements as part of our survey, and our system designs can often minimise external visual impact. We have experience installing systems in sensitive buildings across the South East.
